Queenslander Ky Burke will be Karting Australia’s representative at the 2024 FIA Karting Academy Series in Europe that begins over the weekend of April 25-28 in Val D’Argenton, France.
The former Cadet 9 Australian Champion will line-up in the events where drivers are selected from their domestic governing bodies. In an ability to create an even playing field, all drivers are allocated their karts and engines from a random ballot draw at the events.
This year, the chassis are being supplied by OTK with the engines coming from Vortex.
“It has been my dream to compete against the best in the world and be exposed at the world stage. For me to race against the world’s best will be a challenge, but I will represent Australia as best as I can,” said Burke.
“By having this opportunity, it will expose me to greater steps in my future career in motorsport. I believe I have what it takes to compete in Europe, as I have already had international experience over in Malaysia and America.”
Burke enters the Academy Trophy off the back of the success that was tasted by Max Walton in 2023, who finished the three round series second overall.
The Bundaberg racer represented Australia at the FIA Asia Pacific Motorsport Games, where he went on to win the Junior karting category.
The 2024 FIA Karting Academy Trophy events are as follows:
- April 25-28 Val D’Argenton, France
- June 20-23 Slovak Karting Centre, Slovakia
- August 1-4 Kristianstad, Sweden
